Hello, and welcome to ‘The Alternative PA’ website. My name is Debbie and I live in the beautiful county of Lincolnshire with my fiance Tom, daughter Beatrice and Jack Russell Terrier, Monty moo!
Having a partner who is a small business owner, I saw him struggling with administration tasks and phone calls, not to mention the marketing of the business and planning events, so by helping him as and when he needed me, it made me realise how much time is spent on mundane tasks and how my skills can really help and support a business. I am keen to help small to medium businesses to grow and stand out in the business world and to enable them to operate more efficiently, enhancing productivity, thus enabling them to free up time to look after current customers and most important of all gain new customers!
I have worked in various industries throughout my career and with my daughter starting school, I wanted to set up my own business in order to give me more flexibility and also do something I really enjoyed, making use of all the skills I had acquired over the years. Essentially, a Virtual Assistant does the same work as a Personal Assistant but as a Virtual Assistant, or VA, on a self employed basis, from the comfort of my own home, utilising all my skills I have gained during my working career; administration, project management, marketing, event planning. With email, internet and Skype technology at our disposal, there is little that I can do in an office that I can’t do remotely, except, perhaps, make the coffee!
I have worked within a PA capacity (at Executive Director level) for over 22 years within the Media, Marketing, Sales & hospitality industries. I have also carried out event management roles during my working years, including wedding planner roles. Some of the events I have organised include; radio outside broadcasts, CLA Game Fair Trade stand for Woodland Trust, trade stands at Country Living Fair, numerous weddings during my time at The Bedford Swan Hotel, my own Vintage Fairs and numerous business conferences.
I am very much people person and thrive on meeting new business acquaintances and people often say I am a great connector of people. I have built relationships with many suppliers in the area now and love to recommend where possible when clients are looking for a particular service.
I am a dynamic, efficient, highly organised, experienced and trustworthy VA with over 20 years experience, specialising in event management.
